Setting the stageAdvance on Mines. Green is attacking. Green sends five(5) IS7s to clear the island. Red responds by counter pushing the IS7s with seven(7) mediums. An 8th later joins in. So green starts with an undermatch. Green has an armor advantage. Red has a DPM advantage. An important note: Green also has three(3) mediums with overwatch on the IS7s, so it is closer to a fair fight. Lets see how it goes. After the crossGreen got some good bleed on the red tanks that crossed the water. Three have taken damage and one is a 1-shot. That's a great start. However things are already starting to go wrong. 1) The 1-shot is still on the back side of the island and can't be shot yet. So the lead 907 with 1167 HP is the correct target. 2) We only have 2 of 5 tanks shooting the correct target. 3) Worse yet, two of green's tanks are distracted by a lone enemy. So we now essentialy have 2 fights, a 6v3 and a 2v1. The lead 907 shoud be shreded with 5 tanks shooting it, but that's not the case. Green still in good shape, but...Green and red have each lost a tank. Green has two(2) half health tanks. Red has two(2) 1-shots. So this fight should now be a 4v4 after the 1-shots are cleared, however only 2 of our tanks are looking at the low health tanks. We cleared the 1-shots, but...We killed the two(2) 1-shots, but another red medium joined the fight, so instead of a 4v4 its a 5v4. And here is where things start to go horribly wrong because only one(1) green tank is shooting the low health target and they are all shooting different tanks. Oof.As a result of no focus fire, none of the red tanks die and green loses 3 tanks. It is now a 1v5. Our lone green tank is at half health and shooting the low health tank, but this is likely to end with four red tanks surviving. The end of the brawlAs expected the lone green tank dies taking a 1-shot red tank with him. Red leaves the brawl with 4 tanks alive. Luckily the other battles on the map go well and green wins. Had they been better with focus fire, it could have (and should have) been a slaughter. A couple more thoughtsAfter talking w/ another officer I think a couple of other points should be made. The above is mostly about focus fire. However, we should probably discuss positioning.
Why did the 2 tanks on the left side stay alive longer even though most of the enemy was on them? Positioning. So as it was, the tanks on the right because they were seperate and were exposing their sides and asses, so the enemy focused them as easier targets while the tanks on the left were keeping their front armor to the enemy. What should have happened is when the medium push was spotted, the other tanks should have condensed to be one group with thye two tanks on the left. Comments are closed.
