OK, So you don't have time for the whole course...maybe CW Reward Season is tomorrow or maybe you just got into a new clan and don't want to look like a noob in CW tonight...Here ya go.
1) Know bush mechanics
If you can see the tank you are shooting clearly through the bush instead of just the red outline...you are doing it wrong. Look at the 2 examples below. On the left we have a bush humper. He is right up on that bush. When he shoots, his tank's camo will drop and he will lose concealment from the bush. On the right, the tank will lose camo when he fires, but will keep the concealment from the bush so he is much less likely to get spotted and die.
4) Push/Surround/Engulf
When you have an overmatch, you need to take advantage of it. You do that by pushing/surrounding/engulfing.
The following video clip show the Clan G executing this maneuver.
The following video clip show the Clan G executing this maneuver.
Watch it a couple of times. Things to note:
- They identify a group of tanks
- They flex to create an overmatch
- They group up before the push. Heavy TDs in inside, then heavy tanks, then mediums spread way out.
- The TDs push in. The HTs push through to surround. The MTs go wide and engulf.
- They focus fire mostly right to left.
5) General Tips: Dont play like a pubbie, trade well, think team
- Focus fire, Focus Fire, Focus fire. "T" up targets. Call the low health target.
- Don't peek/poke unless asked by caller.
- If you peek be smart about how. Sidescrape, turn turret sideways to just stick mantlet out, etc.
- If you poke, don't take damage and back up. If you take damage pull forward and make sure you do damage too. (Unless exposing to multiple tanks, etc.)
- If you peek, try not to peek the same place where the enemy will be pre-aimed.
- Don't face hug and block teammate's shots, clinching is not facehugging. Know the difference.
- Don't rock when in formation, corner fighting, etc. You will block shots, you may be shot by your teammate, and you may expose your teammate's weak spots.
- Shoot low health tanks. Don't sit in your high-alpha tank and ignore the 10hp tank because you don't want to waste your shot. The 10 health tank does the same damage as a full health tank. Take the gun off the field.
- Call where you received damage if it is from an unlit source. The caller needs this information. "Enemy STRV Here" and ping map.
- If the caller asks for Artillery, don't ask which one. Callers generally do not play arty and don't know the range restrictions of a CGC or the low arc of a 261. If you are not good enough to know the best arty for that map, you should not volunteer to play it.
- Similar idea for skill tanks. Look at your team. If available, look at the tanks on the strat sketch. If you know there are more skilled players in a tank that requires more skill like a Leopard for example, let your more skilled players take it. This is not the time to ready it up because its fun.
- If you ask a question related to you position, hit F7 (help) so the caller can see on the minimap whos is asking.
- If you don't know or are unsure, ASK!!! "Can you ping the IS7s again?" "Can the 277 move here?" (and hit F7 and Ping the desired location)
- Dont use "I" or "Me". If you ask something like: "Am I in the right spot?" you fucked up. "Rum in Chief, am I in the right spot?" and hitting F7 is the correct way.
- Turn you brain on, but ask. The caller is playing too. They cannot micromanage you constantly. If you think you should be doing soemthing else, ask. Don't sit there with your gun out of the fight, but don't just wander off either. "Everything is lit, can base defense move up?"
