Lesson 10: running a clan wars global map tank campaign
CONSIDERATIONS
- Are you a social clan?
- Are you a competetive clan?
- Hybrid?
- Are you trying to earn tanks?
- Are you just trying for tanks in the Auction?
Priorities
Your "Tank Team" needs as many battles as possible.
Your "Tank Team" needs as many wins as possible.
You have to have a non-tank team.
This means that:
Your "Tank Team" needs as many wins as possible.
You have to have a non-tank team.
This means that:
- If your tank team loses and your non-tank team wins in a landing tournament, the Tank Team takes the continuation.
- If your Tank Team is facing a 1300 ELO clan, you sacrifice the non-tank team to the hard battle and give the easier battle to the Tank Team
- Battles that give more fame like on the attacking or defending a province on the map or vs the landowner in a tournament go to the Tank Team
- You will spend Clan Fame to get battles on the Advanced Front as a loss on the advanced front is more fame than a win on the basic front.
Things to know
- You get 1 "Chip" or landing application for every 15 clan members who have a Tier 10 tank. The maximum is 6 (90 players). Do not drop below 90 players with Tier 10s.
- Usually the last timezone has 1/2 the landing zones as the others. So, these fill almost instantly.
- Usually the 1st timezone has 1/2 the provinces on the South American server, so the US server ones fill almost instantly.
- If you are using your 6 chips correctly, you should start the day having 2 at 7PM, 2 at 7:15PM, 1 at 10PM and 1 at 10:15PM.
- The map works in "Turns". Turns occur at the top of every hour. Fame points, etc. on the Leader Board are usually 1 turn behind.
- Chips "lock" on the Turn before the turn the battle occurs in. So, if you are chipping a battle at 7:15, you can move/change/pull chips until the 6PM turn.
- Until the turn processes, nothing is certain. MANY clans will move/adjust units/chips right before the turn processes. This will screw you from time to time, but there is nothing that can be done about it. So for instance, you want to chip a landing that has only 2 lower ELO clans in it. You chip it and after the turn processes, you see that a 1400 ELO clan chipped it too. Screwed.
- Most matches require your team to kill at least 5 tanks to earn any fame. So a bad loss or a fast cap can prevent you from earning fame. GET THE 5 KILLS.
- You only need 12 players to field team. So if you have 2 teams (30 players) and get "Trips", you can split them 12/12/12 meaning you only need to find 6 players to cover, not 15.
- You do not want to accumulate "Techs" or Technical Defeats. Within any floating 3 day period, the 1st battle you can't fill and Tech gives you a warning. The 2nd, causes you to lose a chip (so you now have 5) and -10% Clan Fame. The 3rd drops you to 3 chips and you lose another 10%. The 4th drops you to 1 chip and you lose another 10%.
Landing Tournaments
- The 1st battle is always vs a team with the closest ELO.
- All other battles are based on points earned in the previous battle.
- Teams are matched starting with the lowest ELO, so before the battles are set, you can tell who you are fighting. Start matching by 2s from the lowest and see who you are paired with. Sometimes it is the one above, sometimes the one below.
- For each pair, the 1st one is on the Green Base.
- If there is an odd number of teams, the highest ELO gets a Bye and faces the LOWEST point team in the next round.
- Some landing tournaments will be on the same provinces as the previous nights. In order to chip these, you have to wait until the turn after the current tournament finishes.
Jobs
- Caller - hyper focused on preparing his team for each battle and managing the battle.
- Initial Chipper - The map usually opens at 7AM Eastern on the 1st day of the campaign. Someone (more is better) needs to be refreshing the map starting at 6:55AM and spamming chips to get battles in the 1st timezone.
- Cat Herder - answers all the questions like "What time are battles?" "What Room am I in?" Where's my brain?", etc.
- Chipper - Place chips as battles come available to chip. Some landings like those in the first and last timezone will become available after the turn processes DURING a battle your team is playing. This person ideally isnt playing and definitely isnt callling because they will be spamming the refresh on their webpage and then thinking and chipping while the battle has started.
- Chip Manager - 5 to 10 minutes before chips are locked, see if adjustments can be made to improve your win chance. Examples: 1) You may have a bunch of high ELO teams in the battle you chipped, but there is another with only 2 high ELO teams. Switch the chips. 2) Your first battle based on ELO is going to be vs a significantly higher ELO team. Switch the chips.
- Thrower - This person decides when/if a battle needs to be thrown (purposely lost). If you only have 2 teams, and winning the next battle means that the continuation will conflict with other chips/battles resulting in 3+ concurrent games and you cannot field the required 3+ teams to cover them, they need to be thrown to prevent the Tech and penalties. This person needs to also look at factors like the depth and dificulty of the bracket to determine which game to throw.
- Battle manager - Ideally, someone needs to watch the tournament bracket while your team is playing. For example, a high ELO clan gets a quick win killing all the other tanks. As a result they will go against the 2nd highest point team in the continuation. So the battle manager tells the caller to back off and purposly not "Cap and Kill all" because you do not want to be that 2nd highest points team. Or perhaps the top ELO clan got a BYE, so your team wants to Kap/Kill all to get as many points as possible. Again this requires looking at the website while the battle is going so it is best to not be someone playing in the battle.
- Complaint Dept - All problems/complaints go to this person so the above people can do their jobs.
